Eric Roberson Information
Eric Roberson (September 27, 1973) is an American former rapper, singer, songwriter, and music producer. His education in musical theater was incomplete until he returned to Howard University to finish it. He began collaborating with Philadelphia-based artists including Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, and most notably, DJ Jazzy Jeff, after landing a songwriting deal with the EMI label following his performances in multiple musicals and plays.
Two Grammys for Best Urban/Alternative Performance were extended to Roberson. His 2009 album Music Fan First had two songs nominated: "A Tale of Two" in 2010 and "Still" the following year, both from the same category. United Tenors was a band he was a part of in 2013, along with Dave Hollister and Fred Hammond, including Brian Courtney Wilson. In 2014, Roberson's album The Box reached eighth on Billboard's Top R&B Albums chart. It spent three weeks on the chart.
The album peaked at no. 104 on the Billboard 200. Speakers manufactured by BoomCase were used on the record cover and other promotional materials. The first-ever dedicated Commonwealth war memorial in the UK to the African and Caribbean servicemen and women of both World Wars was made possible by the selection of Roberson's "I Have A Song" as the fundraising single, produced by Jak Beula and released in February 2016.
