Element Eighty Information
Element Eighty is an American nu-metal band. After forming in 1998, Element Eighty released their self-produced first album, Mercuric, on Pale Star Records in June 2001. They signed with Universal/Republic Records in April of 2003. In October 2003, they released an album titled Element Eighty. Sevendust, Mudvayne, 3 Doors Down, Slipknot, Shinedown, Korn, Hellyeah, Ill Nio, Flaw, 40 Below Summer, and Mushroomhead are just some of the bands that the band has shared the stage with on tour.
The video game Need for Speed: Underground features the song "Broken Promises" as part of the soundtrack. On the Mainstream Rock charts in the United States, the song also reached No. 36. After months on the road with no music video or label marketing, the band finally realized that their label didn't care about them. In late 2004, the band's contract with Universal/Republic ended.
Roon, the band's original bassist, left shortly after they left to pursue higher education in scientific research. Zack Bates, previously of the band Bullet Ant, later took his place. The band dropped their third studio album, The Bear, on their label, Texas Cries Records, in November 2005. The album was solely sold on the band's website, at live performances, and through digital download and streaming services.
