Ehnes Quartet Information
The Ehnes Quartet was established in 2010 and is composed of four internationally renowned string musicians. This includes violist Richard O’Neill, violinists James Ehnes and Amy Schwartz Moretti, and cellist Edward Arron. The four members have played chamber music together in many formations of 20+ years. James Ehnes is the founder of the Ehnes Quartet and has performed in 37 countries on five continents, regularly appearing in the world’s great concert halls.
The music of The Ehnes Quartet is stated to be highly refined, sensitive, and expressive and delighted countless audiences and critics across North America, Asia, and Europe. This has made The Ehnes Quartet one of the most sought after chamber groups performing to date. The debut recordings of quartets were released in 2014 by Onyx Classics and recorded by Barber and Shostakovich.
The members of the Ehnes Quartet, such as Richard O’Neill (viola), is the winner of an Avery Fisher Career Grany, a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, a two-time Grammy Award nominee, and Artistic Director of Ensemble DITTO. Additionally, Cellist Edward Arron is the artistic director of the Performing Artists in Residence series at the Clark Art Institute and also directs concert series in Columbia.
