Dumpstaphunk Information
Dumpstaphunk is a funk and jam band that was founded in 2003 by keyboardist Ivan Neville. It was created on a whim to perform a solo gig at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The music of Dumpstaphunk is defined as jazz, soul, blues, gospel, rock, and funk. The current lineup of the band includes Ivan Neville on vocals, Tony Hall on guitar, Nick Daniels III on guitar, Alvin Ford Jr on drums, and Ian Neville on guitar. Two of the former members are Raymond Weber and Nikki Glaspie.
When Dumpstaphunk performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, it ended up getting votes by OffBeat Magazine and Gambit Weekly as "New Orleans' Best Funk Band" in 2014. The group has performed at many other festivals such as Voodoo Experience, Hangout Festival, Bonnaroo, Caloundra Music Festival, 10,000 Lakes, Gathering of the Vibes, Dave Matthews Band Caravan, High Sierra, and Outside Lands.
Some of their other appearances are Jazz Fest 2006 – Home Grown Distribution (2006), Jazz Fest 2010 – MunckMix (2010), Live at Jazz Fest 2011 – Home Grown Distribution (2011), and Live at Jazzfest 2012 – MunckMix (2012). Listen Hear – Dumpstaphunk (2007), Everybody Want Sum – Controlled Substance Soundlabs (2010), and Dirty Word – Louisiana Red Hot Records (2013) are the three biggest releases by the band.
