Die Antwoord is a South African alternative hip-hop ensemble established in Cape Town in 2008. The group comprises Anri du Toit as Ninja, Yolandi Visser, a male/female rap duet, HITEK5000, and Lil2Hood as producers. Photographer Roger Ballen is only one of many artists who have contributed to its image, which centers on the zef movement of the South African counterculture.
Die Antwoord has been a huge hit worldwide. Their albums and songs have peaked in the top 50, if not the top 10, across Europe, North America, and Australia. Additionally, their music may be heard in the top-selling video games of the Far Cry series.
After a long absence, Die Antwoord returned to the music scene in 2022 with a string of songs that weren't from an album. They announced a European tour in 2024 and 2023, including stops in places like Italy, Switzerland, England, France, and Hungary, among others.
