Devin the Dude Information
Devin Copeland (June 4, 1970) is better known by his stage name Devin, the Dude. He is from Pontiac, Michigan though the majority of his childhood was spent growing up in St. Petersburg, Florida. He moved to Texas when he was in fourth grade, and after graduating from high school, he finally settled in Houston. He developed an interest in breakdancing during his teenage years. Copeland joined many dance crews before starting to rap. After his graduation, he met a rapper and record producer named Rob Quest and Jugg Mugg. The three formed a trio group called Odd Squad.
Together with this trio, Copeland signed a record with Rap-A-Lot Records, a label notable for being the home of hip-hop artists including Scarface, Too Much Trouble, and a few more. He also moved to be the part of Scarface's Facemob and later went solo in 1998. Since then, Copeland has released ten solo albums that are; The Dude (1998), Just Tryin' ta Live (2002), Landing Gear (2008), Suite 420 (2010), Gotta Be Me (2010), To Tha X-Treme (2004), Waitin' to Inhale (2007), One for the Road (2013), Still Rollin' Up: Somethin' To Ride With (2019), and Acoustic Levitation (2017).
Copeland also made many notable guest appearances on Dr. Dre's "F*ck You" in 1999, Gucci Mane's "Kush Is My Cologne" of off The State vs. Radric Davis in 2009, Tech N9ne's "After Party" in 2010, Slim Thug's "I'm Back" off of Boss of All Bosses in 2009, and more. He was also sighted in the documentary titled Screwed In Houston in 2007.
Copeland also released two EPs and three Compilation albums.
