Dedicated Men of Zion Information
The Dedicated Men of Zion is a gospel quartet from Greenville, North Carolina, with a sacred soul sound. Friends, fellow churchgoers, and married relatives, the group consists of vocalists/siblings Anthony "Amp" and Antwan Daniels, Marcus Sugg, and Dexter Weaver. Their music may have its origins in the harmonies of Black gospel. Still, their dynamic approach marries that lineage to electric blues, R&B, soul, and funk for a sound that recalls when Saturday night merges into Sunday morning.
In 2020, they released Can't Turn Me Around for Bruce Watson's Bible & Tire Recording Co., which received widespread acclaim worldwide. In April 2022, they released their second studio album, The Devil Don't Like It. The eldest Daniels' brother, Anthony, found success in the R&B scene in Atlanta. He has worked with many famous musicians, including Bebe Winans, Toni Braxton, and Elton John.
Dexter Weaver had been a member of several gospel quartets and was familiar with Anthony from their time performing on the sacred soul circuit. Antwan Daniels, the youngest member and Anthony's son, played the organ and keyboards in church and incorporated elements of the gospel heritage into his explorations of hip-hop production.
