Decibel Festival Information
Decibel Festival is an annual digital art and music festival that was initiated in 2004. The event was founded by Sean Horton in Seattle and pulled into existence by the loyalty and talent of the volunteer staff. The festival was dedicated to livening electronic music performance, new media, and visual art. The soul of the festival is all about performances, commissioned work, film screenings, concerts, and exhibitions.
In addition to the performances mentioned above, Decibel Festival also includes lectures, workshops, labels, music gear manufacturers, and a professional section featuring panels. The festival celebrated its largest edition to date in the fall of 2011, which brought in over 23,000 attendees and sold both record numbers of individual showcase tickets and festival passes.
Since the festival was initiated, Decibel has hosted over 1,100 acts that range from experimental electronic music and underground dance to transmedial art. A few of the past performers of Decibel Festival includes Deadmau5, 3 Channels, 12th Planet, Addison Groove, Akufen, The Album Leaf, Alexi Delano, Alter Ego, Amon Tobin ISAM LIVE, Apparat, AraabMuzik, Christopher Willits, Claude VonStroke, Cobblestone Jazz, Dabrye, Daedelus, Dan Bell, DARKSIDE, Deadbeat, The Dead Texan, Derrick May, and Dinky.
Over the years Decibel Festival has been hosted at a variety of venues all across the Seattle area, including Q Nightclub, Neumos, The Crocodile, The Showbox, The Showbox SoDo, Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall, The Triple Door, Islander Cruise Ship, and a few more. The festival was also a member of ICAS (International Cities of Advanced Sound).
