Death Valley Girls Information
Death Valley Girls is an American band that is based in Los Angeles. The music is a garage, proto-metal, rock, and psych-pop sound. The girl’s ensemble emerged in 2013. Their initial style was a self-described “California doom boogie” combining occult-themed lyrics and Manson Family/B-movie theatrics. Death Valley Girls was founded by drummer Patty Schemel (Hole) with Larry Schemel, her six-string-wielding brother. Other band members include bass player Rachel Orosco and vocalist Bonnie Bloomgarden. Some of the formal evoking names of the band were Black Sabbath, Cramps, and Bikini Kill.
Death Valley Girls released their debut album in 2014 entitled Street Venom. The album was released as a cassette via Burger Records. After the debut release, Patty left the group and was replaced by Laura Kelsey (Flytraps). The band came up with a sophomore studio long-player named Glow in the Dark in 2016. For their 2018’s Darkness Rains, Death Valley Girls decided to move to Suicide Squeeze Records. The fourth album by the band was released in 2020 entitled Under the Spell of Joy.
