Danny Elfman Information
Born on May 29, 1953, Daniel Robert Elfman is an American singer, songwriter, and film composer. In the early 1980s, he became well-known as the main songwriter and lead vocalist for the new wave band Oingo Boingo. Elfman first scored a studio picture in 1985, and since then, he has been well-known worldwide for his compositions for over 100 feature films, television, theater, and concert hall works.
Danny Elfman has created almost 100 feature film compositions, including soundtracks for Men in Black, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He has also developed tunes for television programs, including Desperate Housewives and The Simpsons. Orpheus Chamber Orchestra presented Elfman's Suite for Chamber Orchestra on May 4, 2023, at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.
Libraries around the country, including Andre Kostelanetz's Royalty Pool, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Library of Congress, co-commissioned the Suite. The Suite subsequently performed at 92NY's first MidSummer Music Fest in July 2023, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California, for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's debut in December 2023, and finally, in October 2024, by the Reno Chamber Orchestra.
