Danielle Leigh Curiel (December 20, 1994) is a Dominican-American dancer, choreographer, rapper, and singer. She was born in Miami, Florida. Curiel is professionally known as DaniLeigh. She developed an interest in music while she was very young. According to Curiel, people who influenced her to choose the music as her career are Drake, Rihanna, Aaliyah, and Missy Elliott. Curiel began dancing when she was just 12 years old and was just 14 years old when she began singing. At the beginning of her career, Curiel was an introvert who gets shy to perform in front of the other, but once she started getting positive feedback all around, her courage got the right boost.
Curiel posted her covered vocals on YouTube. She covered songs such as “So Beautiful” by Musiq Soulchild. Her career officially started after she moved to Los Angeles. Curiel put efforts to get a breakthrough, and for this reason, she began making connections and searching for gigs that can somehow help her to attract. At the age of 18, Prince asked her to direct his video single “Breakfast Can Wait.”
In 2015, DaniLeigh released her debut single “D.O.S.E.” It did not go as per the expectation, but her single “Play” that was released in 2017 brought her success that she wanted. Curiel released her first EP “Summer with Friends” in 2017 after signing up with Def Jam Records. She released her only LP “The Plan” in 2018. Her notable singles include Lil Bebe (2018), Blue Chips (2018), Easy (2019), and a few more.
