Curren$y Information
Shante Scott Franklin (April 4, 1981) is an American record executive, songwriter, and rapper, professionally known by his stage name, Currensy. He formed Jet Life Recordings in 2011.
Currensy was a late addition to the 504 Boyz and was signed to Master P's No Limit Records in 2002. The 504 Boyz song "Get Back," produced by Donald XL Robertson, was featured on the 2003 film Malibu's Most Wanted soundtrack. Master P's Good Side, Bad Side album included Currensy on five songs. Despite being signed to No Limit, he represented C-TRU Murder's label.
Currensy signed with Amalgam Digital in 2009 to release This Ain't No Mixtape, his debut album. Monsta Beatz was the sole producer of this album. Currensy was also named to XXL magazine's annual "Freshman Class" list, and in the same year, Amalgam Digital published his second album, Jet Files.
Currensy's imprint, Jet Life Recordings, was announced to have inked a label contract with Warner Bros. Records on February 1, 2011. Covert Coup was his first release under Warner Bros.' Jet Life Recordings banner. The Alchemist produced all ten songs on the album, released for free on Currensy's official website on April 20.
Other notable studio albums include Weekend at Burnie's (2011), The Stoned Immaculate (2012), Pilot Talk III (2015), Canal Street Confidential (2015), Back at Burnie's (2019), Collection Agency (2021), Still Stoned on Ocean (2021), and Pilot Talk IV (2021).
