Converge Information
Converge is an American hardcore punk band. The group's current lineup consists of Ben Koller, Nate Newton, Kurt Ballou, and Jacob Bannon. The band changed from a three-piece to a four-piece lineup in the middle of the recording process for their landmark fourth album, Jane Doe. Guitarist Aaron Dalbec left the band, and bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller joined the lineup, respectively. This lineup has not undergone any changes since then.
They have published nine studio albums, three live albums, and numerous EPs during their career. The band's sound can be described as having its origins in hardcore and featuring regular heavy metal elements. They are regarded as the forefathers of the metalcore genre and the mathcore offshoot. Their fame skyrocketed after the album release of Jane Doe, voted the finest album of the decade by Sputnikmusic. It was also named the best album of 2001 by Terrorizer. Rolling Stone later named it the 61st-best metal album of all time.
After that, Converge moved from Equal Vision Releases to the much larger label Epitaph Records, and gradually their records became more complicated and expensive to make as a result. Deathwish Inc., which Bannon founded in 1999, is the company that has usually handled special releases. The Dusk in Us (2017) and Bloodmoon: I (2021), Converge's first full-length collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe, are the most recent albums released by the band.
