Janney Marín Rivera (June 26, 1985) is an American singer, author, entrepreneur, and television personality better known by her stage name, Chiquis Rivera. She was born and raised in California and is the daughter of Regional Mexican star Jenni Rivera. Chiquis is also known as La Princesa de la Banda and La Necia. Her music is classified as Latin pop and Regional Mexican.
As a television personality, Rivera made her debut on the reality show Jenni Rivera Presents Chiquis & Raq-C, Chiquis’ n Control. She was also seen on her mother’s hit spin-off reality show famous as I Love Jenni. Chiquis Confidential was a mini web-series that featured Rivera as well. In early 2014, she started her singing career and released her first single entitled “Paloma Blanca.” Three of her notable studio albums include Ahora (2015), Entre Botellas (2018), and Playlist (2020). Her musical style is classified as banda, popular traditional Mexican music.
Janney Marín Rivera has appeared in many hit TV shows, such as The View in 2013, where she talked about how her mother’s death has affected her; The Riveras in 2016; and Tengo Talento Mucho Talento, where she was the judge in 2019.
Rivera was nominated for Billboard Latin Music Award in the category of Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female. She was also nominated for a few Juventud Awards in Catchiest Tune, My Favorite Video, and Best Artist using Social Media to Connect with Fans. Rivera won two Lo Nuestro Awards and one Premios De La Radio award.
