Carlton Neron Thomas (June 15, 1972) is an American R&B singer. He was born in Aurora, Illinois. He joined the band The Fourmula and began performing around Chicago. However, he ventured out and visited New York City, where he performed at open mic nights in bars. When Sean "Puffy" Combs saw Thomas perform in 1997, he signed him to Bad Boy Entertainment. In late 1999, they released a record called "I Wish," which spent six weeks at the top of the R&B charts and generated a lot of buzz. An emotional first album, it was released on April 18, 2000.
The album was certified platinum due to the album's other singles, "Summer Rain," which peaked at No. 18 and was featured on the soundtrack for the 2000 film adaptation of Shaft, and "Emotional," which peaked at No. 8 on the R&B charts. Rapper Jay-Z sampled Thomas' "I Wish" on his 2000 album The Dynasty: Roc La Familia track "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me). On The Understanding's song "Everyday," he provided vocals.
Let's Talk About It is his second album, released on March 23, 2004. A pair of songs, "She Is" and "Let's Talk About It," failed to impact the charts. Thomas's brother Duranthony Evans was killed in a drive-by on Halloween night in Aurora's east side, leading to decreased advertising for the theater.
