Taylor Cameron Carpenter (1981) is an American organist. He became the first organist who has been nominated for a Grammy Award in 2009 for his solo album entitled “Revolutionary.” He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in New York from Juilliard School. Paul Jacobs, John Weaver, and Gerre Hancock are the ones with whom he studied for a long time. From 2008 to 2009, Carpenter was the artist-in-residence at Middle Collegiate Church.
Telarc signed carpenter for an exclusive five-album recording contract. Revolutionary was the debut album that he had released under Telarc. The album was recorded as a DVD and CD in New York City at Trinity Church Wall Street. This album was eventually released on September 23, 2008, and was a great success for the organist. The first commercial album of Carpenter was out in 2006 as a CD/DVD entitled “Pictures at an Exhibition.”
One of his early recordings issued in the United States on June 1, 2010. It was a two-disc set with a CD carrying a J.S. Bach recital. It had been recorded live at a recital that was played in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in New York City. Carpenter also signed with Sony Classic and issued another DVD entitled “If You Could Read My Mind” on August 26, 2014.
