Trevor George Smith Jr. (May 20, 1972) is an American record producer, actor, record executive, singer, rapper, and musician. He is professionally known as Busta Rhymes. Rhymes was born in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 12, Rhymes moved to Uniondale, Long Island. Later on, he moved to England and stayed in Morecambe and Liverpool. Rhymes joined George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School after he returned to the United States.
Rhymes began working on his debut album “The Coming” in summer 1995. It was a solo album which was released in March 1996. A month before the release of “The Coming,” Rhymes released a hit single “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check”. After the massive success that he got from the album and the single, Rhymes started to work on his second album that was to be released in September 1997. His second album threw hit singles such as “Fire it Up” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.” After all his dedicated work for the music industry, it made him one of the most successful rappers of the United States.
Until 1992, Rhymes started appearing as a guest in songs of other artists, including Another Bad Creation, Big Daddy Kane, Brand Nubian, KRS-One, The Notorious B.I.G, and a few others. Rhymes recorded Extinction Level Event (Final World Front). The song “Gimme Some More” was themed on Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho and became the lead single of the album. The single reached number 6 in the UK Singles Chart.
Rhymes hit releases include albums such as Genesis (2001), It Ain’t Safe No More (2002), Year of The Dragon (2012), and several others. Rhymes has played his part in several films as well. Some popular films that featured him are Master of None (2015), Fresh Off The Boat (2016), and King of the Dancehall (2016), and a few others.
