Brian Kainoa Makoa McKnight Sr. (June 5, 1969) is a singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, radio presenter, and multi-instrumentalist. His powerful head voice, high belting range, and melisma have made him a household name in the R&B music industry. The 1993 soundtrack single "Love Is," which he wrote and sang for the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210, was his first to reach the top three on the Billboard Hot 100.
From his self-titled first studio album (1992), released the previous year by Mercury Records and certified platinum by the RIAA, came the song "One Last Cry" the same year, which peaked at No.13 on the list. He ranks third all-time for most Grammy Award nominations without a victory, with 16, behind only Zubin Mehta and Snoop Dogg.
McKnight revealed in May 2018 that his next studio album, Bedtime Story, would be a 60-minute album of music "for the bedroom, aka baby-making music. " The Masked Dancer, a spin-off of The Masked Singer, featured Brian McKnight as "Cricket" in 2021.
