Boney M Information
Boney M. is a German vocal group specializing in disco and funk. The famous German record producer and primary songwriter Frank Farian formed the band. The group's original lineup was Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett, Jamaica, Maizie Williams, Montserrat, and Bobby Farrell of Aruba; all four were based in West Germany. The band first came together in 1976, peaking in the disco period of the late '70s. Since the 1980s, the band has played with an ever-changing lineup of musicians.
In February of 2017, they performed the Patras Carnival's closing ceremony. In 2017, Boney M. and Friends published the World Music for Christmas album. Liz Mitchell sang three tracks on this album. They also released a single and music video for a cover of El Cóndor Pasa called, Like Diamonds in the Sky, which included Mitchell.
Kevin Christie, a dance music producer and Kiss FM DJ, produced a remix of Rasputin on the Ministry of Sound label for Sony Music in 2021. The song, credited to Majestic & Boney M, peaked at No.11 on the UK singles chart and was accompanied by a music video featuring RuPaul's Drag Race UK contestant Bimini Bon-Boulash.
In August 2023, Liz Mitchell led Boney M. on a tour of several cities in the US with Samantha Fox and Bad Boys Blue. The dates included Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and San Jose.
