Bonerama Information
New Orleans's own Bonerama plays a funky kind of brass rock. Mark Mullins and Craig Klein, both trombonists, created Bonerama in 1998. They had previously played together in Harry Connick Jr.'s big band from 1990 until late 2006. Soon after, they brought in trombonists Steve Suter, Brian O'Neill, Rick Trolsen, sousaphonist Matt Perrine, guitarist Bert Cotton, and drummer Eric Bolivar.
Russell Batiste, Stanton Moore, Doug Belote, Chad Gilmore, Terence Higgins, and Kevin O'Day are just a few of the New Orleans drummers who have guested with Bonerama at various times. Before Matt Perrine's return to the band in 2013, Charlie Wooton and Nori Naraoka took over electric bass duties. In December 2005, Brian O'Neill was playing a solo piano gig in New Orleans when he suddenly collapsed and died. In 2001, Bonerama published their first full-length album.
When the 2008 Sugar Bowl was held on January 2, Bonerama sang the national anthem. Together with OK Go, they put out a charity EP on February 5 called You're Not Alone to help musicians uprooted from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Greg Hicks, a trombonist, joined the band in early 2009 after Rick Trolsen and Steve Suter left.
