Blues Traveler Information
Blues Traveler is a rock band that became famous in the mid-1990s. They hit a big moment in 1994 when their song “Run-Around” reached the Top 10 on the Billboard charts. That song also won a Grammy Award in 1996. Their sound blends elements of blues, rock, and jam-band styles. They are known for lively harmonica solos and tight guitar work. Their style is fun and energetic, with lots of musical improvisation that makes each show unique.
Before that big hit, the band made a name by playing music on the streets. They started in 1987 in Princeton, New Jersey. They released several albums, like their self-titled debut in 1990 and Travelers & Thieves in 1991. Those albums showed their bluesy, jam-band roots. After “Run-Around,” they released Four in 1994, which went multi-platinum. They toured with big acts like The Allman Brothers and Dave Matthews Band. Their touring and live performances helped them build a loyal fan base over the years.
In 2025, Blues Traveler released a new album titled Out of the Blue. They are currently on a U.S. tour supporting it. Shows include stops in Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, and Denver. They are playing a mix of new songs and classic hits like “Hook” and “But Anyway.” Their lineup for 2025 includes frontman John Popper, harmonica and vocals, along with bassist Tad Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, guitarist Ben Wilson, and guitarist Chan Kinchla. This year, they also performed at the Newport Folk Festival in July 2025. They are planning special shows in August to coincide with the album release, and fans can expect additional dates in the fall.
