Black Label Society Information
Black Label Society is an American band that mainly plays heavy metal, sometimes incorporating groove metal and biker metal. The group was formed in 1998 by Zakk Wylde in Los Angeles, California.
The journey to forming the Black Label Society began in the early 90s with Wylde creating a solo band Pride & Glory, which played a mixture of heavy metal and bluesy southern rock. After releasing one album, he disbanded the band and recorded another acoustic solo album Book of Shadows in 1996. The album had limited commercial success, and on May 1998, Wylde teamed up with drummer Phil Ondich to record what would become Black Label Society’s debut album, Sonic Brew.
In 2000, the band released its second album, Stronger Than Death, and in 2002 followed it up with 1919 Eternal in dedication to Wylde’s late father. To date, Black Label Society has released ten studio albums, two compilation albums, two live albums, three video albums, and one EP. The single Order Of The Black from their eight studio album released on August 10, 2010, reached No.4 on Billboard 200 chart.
