Bang Tango Information
Bang Tango is an American hard rock band, with the current lineup of the group consisting of Jeff Tortora (drums), Rowan Robertson (guitar), Jason Walker (guitar), Kyle Kyle (bass guitar), and Joe Leste (lead vocals). Mark Knight, a guitarist, and his brother, Kyle Kyle, a bassist, formed the band in 1988. Knight sought out Kyle Stevens to fill the role of second guitarist. Joe Leste', a former member of Rough Cutt's front line, joined Bang Tango at the request of Rough Cutt's Amir Derakh, and the band eventually expanded to a five-piece with the addition of Leste's childhood friend, Tigg Ketler, on drums.
By playing performances and gaining a following on the Sunset Strip scene in Hollywood, the band was soon the subject of a bidding war between numerous large labels. Then, MCA Records signed Bang Tango. Before the release of their Howard Benson–produced debut album, Psycho Café (which peaked at No. 58 on the Billboard 200), they dropped an EP titled Live Injection in early 1989.
The single "Someone Like You" and its accompanying music video were regulars on early 1990s MTV shows like Dial MTV and Headbangers Ball. Dancin' on Coals (1991), produced by John Jansen, was their second album, but it was less successful than their debut.
