Danzel James Baker (October 10, 1996) is a Yolngu actor, artist, dancer, and rapper. He is professionally known by his stage name, Baker Boy. Darwin, Northern Territory, is the place of his birth. He attended the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in Brisbane after finishing high school at Shalom Christian College in Townsville, Queensland.
There, he discovered his passion for dancing and acting, and he eventually joined the Djuki Mala dance ensemble, which performed all around Australia. As the winner of Triple J's UnexXxXxSsarthed National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs) Competition in 2017, Baker Boy received widespread media attention. He dropped two hit songs in one year, "Cloud 9" with Kian and "Marryuna" with Yirrmal. Both songs were included in Triple J's 2017 countdown of the 100 hottest hits.
The 2018 Riddu Riu Festival in Norway featured Baker Boy. Throughout 2018, he shared the stage alongside Yothu Yindi and Dizzee Rascal, among others. He and A.B. Original warmed the stage for American rap star 50 Cent in January 2018. The song "Mr. La Di Da Di" became his third single and was released in April 2018. On the track "Announcing the Journey" from his debut studio album Gela, released on October 15, 2021, he is joined by Glen Gurruwiwi on vocals and Kevin Gurruwiwi on yidaki.
