Atlantic Wind Symphony Information
The Atlantic Wind Symphony has performed since 1968, making it the longest-continuously running professional concert band on Long Island. The Atlantic Wind Symphony is quite proud of its exclusive use of musicians from Long Island. The Suffolk County Office of Cultural Development and the New York State Council on the Arts provide us with grants to help cover our operating costs.
The Atlantic Wind Symphony has played in various venues, from public parks to exclusive country clubs, throughout Long Island, Manhattan, and Westchester County. We have performed as far west as Westhampton and Quogue in Suffolk County and east as Morgan Park and Eisenhower Park in Nassau County.
On March 22, 1998, the group performed for the first time in Carnegie Hall. In addition to fostering members' pursuit of creative excellence, the organization's mission is to spread love and respect for the concert band as a musical performing medium and to produce concerts, free of charge, for the people of Long Island.
