Armand Hammer is a New York City-based hip-hop ensemble. Billy Woods and Elucid make up the group. Half Measures, Armand Hammer's mixtape, was released in September 2013. Steel Tipped Dove, Blockhead, Uncommon Nasa, and Small Pro were among the producers. Race Music, the duo's debut studio album, was released in October of that year, and it was produced by Steel Tipped Dove, Marmaduke, Willie Green, and Blue Sky Black Death. "A powerful record on life, art, sex, drugs, politics, and violence," Tiny Mix Tapes said.
The Village Voice called it one of the "10 Best New York City Rap Albums of 2013." On October 25, 2013, "Shark Fin Soup" was listed on Spin's "Rap Songs of the Week" list. The duo's debut EP, Furtive Movements, was published in 2014. The Village Voice called it one of the "10 Best New York City Rap Albums of 2014." In 2017, the duo's studio album, Rome, was released.
On Stereogum's list of the "40 Best Rap Albums of 2017," it came in at number 28. Paraffin, the duo's first studio album, was released in 2018. It was ranked number 65 on PopMatters' "70 Best Albums of 2018" list and four on Stereogum's "10 Best Rap Albums of 2018" list. It was included in Pitchfork's "Best Rap Albums of 2018" and The AV Club's "Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2018" lists.
