Amy LaVere Information
Amy LaVere, also known as Amy Fant, is an American upright bass player, actress, singer, and songwriter from Shreveport, Louisiana. She is currently based in Memphis, Tennessee, and her music is defined as Americana, in which she blends classic country, gypsy jazz, and southern soul. LaVere fronted the punk band named Last Minute while she was still in her teens. In the early 1990s, she was in Nashville as part of the burgeoning Lower Broadway scene. LaVere played upright bass for them as half of the popular roots duo, The Gabe & Amy Show.
Amy Fant moved to Memphis in 1999 and started to work at Sun Studio. She released her debut album entitled This World Is Not My Home in early 2006 via indie label Archer Records. Many accomplished artists joined her on this album, including southern bluesman Jimbo Mathus. Amy Fant also started her acting career with a cameo as Rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson in Walk The Line.
Some of her other notable studio albums are 2007: Anchors and Anvils, 2011: Stranger Me, 2014: Runaway's Diary, and 2019: Painting Blue. Amy also released an EP entitled "Died Of Love" and a live album entitled Hallelujah I'm a Dreamer.
As an actress, Amy Fant starred in many hit films such as Eat 2006, Black Snake Moan 2006, Woman's Picture 2011, A Fine Step 2011, and The Romance of Loneliness 2011.
