Algebra Felicia Blessett (April 9, 1976) is an American contemporary R&B singer. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She is known simply as Algebra. Blessett began providing harmonies for various singers, including R&B stars Monica and Bilal. Rowdy Records in Atlanta offered her a deal after hearing her demo because of this. Both Anthony Hamilton and India have toured with her. Later in life, she taught herself guitar and began performing alone in Atlanta's underground club scene. She composes all of her music.
Like many R&B artists, she was a gospel choir member in her youth. She wasn't enthusiastic about it and only signed up because she wanted to hang out with her pals after school.
In 2006, Blessett debuted with a single for Kedar Entertainment titled "U Do It For Me." Purpose, her debut album, came out in 2008. Her follow-up album, Recovery, came out in 2014. Blessett spent 14 weeks and peaked at No. 56 on the US Billboard R&B chart with her debut album Purpose. It peaked at #37 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. Recovery, her second album, marked her entrance onto the Billboard 200, peaking at position 149. It debuted at #2 on Heatseekers Albums and #23 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
