Alexander Malofeev Information
Engineer Dimitri Alexandrovitch Malofeev and medical doctor Lyudmila Borisovna Malofeev had their son Alexander. Both his sister and brother are older than him. At age five, he started learning to play the piano. When he was seven years old, he was already a fan of Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Mahler, Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev. Malofeev received a high GPA in 2014 after completing his studies at the N. P. Osipov Children's Music School.
He continued his education at the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow, where he graduated in 2019 under the tutelage of Elena Berezkina, an Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation. He is a student in the class of Sergei Dorensky, People's Artist of Russia, at the Moscow Conservatory. Malofeev shot to fame after winning first prize and the Gold Medal at the 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow in 2014.
He won the top prize at the inaugural Grand Piano Competition held in Moscow two years later. He placed second at the 2019 1st China International Music Competition, earning him the silver medal. He has also won a slew of other prestigious awards on a global scale. He was named "Premio Giovane Talento Musicale dell'anno 2017" (Best Young Musician of 2017) during the inauguration of the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo in April 2017 in Italy.
