A Trak Information
Alain Maclovitch (March 30, 1982) is a Canadian DJ, record executive, and producer. He was born in Montreal, Quebec. He is professionally known by his stage name, Atrak. At eighteen, his mother brought him and his brother back to Morocco to learn more about their heritage. He attended McGill University in Montreal on a part-time basis in the early 2000s to pursue a degree in physics. Around the age of ten, A-Trak's interest in music started when his brother brought cassettes of early 1990s hip-hop acts like the Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill.
A-Trak shot to fame after becoming the youngest and first Canadian to win the DMC World DJ Championship in 1997 at 15. A-Trak's interest in DJing for touring acts developed after he left the competitive DJ scene. A-Trak DJed at events and parties and put out DJ tracks. A-Trak's first headlining tour, Sunglasses Is A Must, began in the spring of 2006. Around this time, A-Trak also started taking music production seriously.
In 1999, A-Trak won the YTV Achievement Award for Special Performance. When he and Armand Van Helden collaborated on the recording and mixing the song "Barbra Streisand" in 2011, they were nominated for a Grammy. The "Big Bad Wolf" video by Duck Sauce was nominated for a Video Music Award in the Best Electronic Dance category in 2012. The music video for A-Trak's "Tuna Melt" was nominated for a 2013 MTV VMA for Best Cinematography.
