Lewis Black Information

Lewis Niles Black (August 30, 1948) is a famous American actor and comedian born in Washington, D.C. His comic acts sometimes become passionate rants against history, politics, religion, and cultural trends.

Black's debut comedy special, for Comedy Central Presents, aired in 1998. In 2000 and 2002, he appeared as a main character in two more show episodes. In 2002, he hosted a program for the network titled Taxed Beyond Belief. At the Just for Laughs comedy festival in 2004 and 2005, Black presided over the presentation of the World Stupidity Awards.

He is known for his "Back in Black" commentary section on The Daily Show and his hosting of the Comedy Central series Lewis Black's Root of All Evil. In 2004, he was ranked as the 51st best stand-up comic of all time by Comedy Central.

The State Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was the location for two Black concerts shot on film in 2011. Black's comedy special, In God We Rust, used these performances. The first showing of the program was on Epix HD. On September 11, 2011, a longer, uncut version of the program was available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Old Yeller: Live at the Borgata was Black's ninth stand-up unique, taped in August 2013. According to Deadline, Black's stand-up special will be the first comedy special to air concurrently on all cable, satellite, and telecom platforms via pay-per-view and video-on-demand.
