The Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) is a Chicago-based electronic dance music (EDM) festival every year. In 2008, the event began in a theatre, then moved to Soldier Field from 2012 to 2015. Later on, to Addams/Medill Park from 2016 to 2018. The event relocated in 2019 to the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, which was previously home to the Poplar Creek Music Theater.
In 2008, Spring Awakening began as a concert series. The event gradually outgrew the theatre, and in 2012, Chicago-based promoter React Presents transformed SAMF to become a two-day outdoor music festival at Soldier Field. The Spring Awakening Music Festival was expanded to three days in 2013 and drew over 90,000 attendees. In the past, SAMF has been held on the second or third weekend of June.
Due to the enormous fan base of electronic dance music in the Chicago area, the festival has grown in popularity. Today, people travel from all over the country and worldwide to attend the festival. There are whispers that the celebration may expand into other states.
React Presents is a Chicago-based club, festival, and concert festival promotion firm founded in 2008. Spring Awakening Music Festival, Forever Festival, North Coast Music Festival, and Summer Set Music & Camping Festival are the four festivals produced by React Presents.
