UConn Huskies Mens Hockey Information
As a member of the University of Connecticut, you may root for the Huskies, a men's ice hockey team that competes in NCAA Division I. The Huskies play in the Hockey East division. During the 2022–23 season, the Huskies relocated to the on-campus Toscano Family Ice Forum from the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1960, with John Chapman at the helm, the Huskies men's ice hockey program got its start.
The new $48 million ice hockey rink at UConn's Storrs campus will open in the fall of 2022; development began with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 22, 2021. The Toscano Family Ice Forum, with 2,600 seats, will open in January 2023 in the Athletics District on Jim Calhoun Way, next to the current Freitas Ice Forum.
In addition to the coaches' offices and a hydrotherapy area in the training space, the team amenities will feature a strength and conditioning facility, a team lounge, a dry locker area, and locker rooms with video screens. Unlike the Freitas Ice Forum, the new 97,300-square-foot facility will adhere to all regulations set down by Hockey East and NCAA Division I ice hockey.
