Yussef Dayes is quickly becoming recognized as one of the most dynamic and original young drummers and producers in the United Kingdom. His sound incorporates everything from funk from the 1970s to Senegalese percussion to modern grime from the UK, even though he is primarily known as a "jazz" drummer. A fluid and lively energy is the component that brings everything together.
Yusef began his career as a musician at the age of 4 when he began performing with his brothers and listening to jazz records that belonged to his father while he was growing up in South East London. Since then, he has gone on to train with the illustrious Billy Cobham and has started playing regular gigs with his brothers in the jazz ensemble United Vibrations, influenced by afrobeat and rock.
Additionally, he is famous for his work with Kamaal Williams, which resulted in the creation of the duet Yussef Kamaal in 2015. As a follow-up to Yussef's first solo release, 'Love Is The Message,' which was released in 2018, 2019 is shaping up to be his busiest year to date, with a debut solo album in the works in addition to a wide variety of collaborative projects across the board.
