Wye Oak Information
Wye Oak is an American indie rock duo that is from Baltimore, Maryland. The duo is composed of Jenn Wasner (bass, guitars, and vocals) and Andy Stack (backup vocals, drums, and keyboards). The Wye Oak was formed in the mid of 2006 as Monarch. Later on, they changed their name to Wye Oak, which is their current name. The duo released their first album entitled “If Children” in 2007. The album was released independently, but in 2008, Wye Oak signed a record deal with Merge Records. The same year, “If Children” was re-released by the label.
In 2009, Wye Oak released its second album entitled “The Knot.” Both of these albums by the duo were recorded at the studio at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Stack was a student there. Wye Oak released its third album entitled “Civilian” which in March 2011. The album was released by Merge in the United States and City Slang in Europe. In April 2014, their fourth album, “Shriek” was released, and in 2016, the duo released their next album entitled “Tween”. The latest studio album by the Wye Oak was “The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs,” which was released on April 6, 2018.
