Weezer Information
Weezer (1991) is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California. The current team includes Patrick Wilson as drummer, Scott Shriner as bassist, Brian Bell as guitarist, and River Cuomo as lead vocalist. A few of the group's past members are Matt Sharp, Jason Cropper, and Mikey Welsh.
The band's debut performance occurred on March 19, 1992, when Keanu Reeves was closing for the band Dogstar. The group also produced The Kitchen Tape, which motivated them to sign with Geffen Records in June 1993. Weezer's "Blue Album" (1994) was their debut album, produced at Electric Lady Studios in NYC.
Maladroit (2002), Weezer's fourth album, featured a hard-rock style and received largely excellent reviews, but sales were weak. However, its lead song, "Beverly Hills," became Weezer's first to top the US Modern Rock Tracks chart and their first to enter the Billboard Hot 100's top ten.
Weezer received a Grammy Award for Best Music Video, five MTV Video Music Awards for Best Alternative Video, Debut Video, Best Direction, and two for Best Editing. In addition, the group was nominated for three Teen Choice Awards in 2005, three MTV Europe Music Awards, and three Grammy Awards.
Weezer performed "Records," the lead song from SZNZ, on Jimmy Kimmel on June 20, 2022. The song peaked at the top position on the Alternative Airplay chart. The EP was published at nightfall on June 21, along with the announcement of a Broadway theater engagement in September 2022.
