We Were Promised Jetpacks is an indie rock band from Scotland. The current lineup of the group consists of Darren Kenneth Lackie (drums), Sean Smith (bass), and Adam Thompson (vocals and guitar). The band was formed in Edinburgh in 2003. The group played its first music gig at their school competition, “battle of the bands.” The group won that competition. WWPT eventually relocated to Glasgow.
We Were Promised Jetpacks released its debut album entitled “These Four Walls” on June 15, 2009. The band performed at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. The album reached 27 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart. The band embarked on touring the United States between late 2009 and early 2010. They had support from a Cincinnati-based band named Bad Veins.
We Were Promised Jetpacks released its second full-length studio album entitled, In the Pit of the Stomach, on October 4, 2011. The album received an overall rating of 7.3/10 at AnyDecentMusic?. The rating was based on 23 reviews that the album received.
On October 6, 2014, We Were Promised Jetpacks came up with their third album entitled, Unravelling. The first launching of the album took place in the United Kingdom, which was on October 6, whereas, in the United States, the album was released on October 14. The band’s other studio albums include The More I Sleep the Less I Dream (September 14, 2018) and Enjoy the View (September 10, 2021). Their notable singles are “Quiet Little Voices” and “Roll Up Your Sleeves.”
