Wayne Newton (April 3, 1942) is an American actor and singer. Since 1963, Newton has been performing in Sin City, where he has remained one of the most famous performers. Newton was one of the most famous vocalists in the US in the middle to late 20th century. Names like "Mr. Las Vegas," "The Midnight Idol," and "Mr. Entertainment" have stuck with him. When Newton was a teenager in the '50s, he made his Las Vegas debut under the tutelage of legendary performers like Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, and Frank Sinatra.
Newton returned to Bally's Hotel in 2016 with his lounge act "Up Close & Personal," which featured live singing, performances on a few of the thirteen instruments he taught himself, and the projection of film and television clips featuring himself. Newton, who has performed over 30,000 shows on the Las Vegas strip, had a show called "Mr. Las Vegas" at Caesars Palace from January to May 2019 to mark his 60th year on stage.
During the pandemic in 2020, Caesars Entertainment used Newton to promote the reopening of their properties in North American television advertising. At the 2022 NFL Draft in Sin City, Newton and Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen declared that the Las Vegas Raiders had selected Dylan Parham, a product of Memphis University, as the third-round choice.
