Warpaint Information
Warpaint is an American indie rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Stella Mozgawa, Jenny Lee Lindberg, Theresa Wayman, and Emily Kokal. Warpaint came together on February 14, 2004, in Los Angeles. Wayman and Kokal, best friends since childhood, were in the initial lineup, along with the Sossamon sisters Lindberg and Shannyn. After three years of playing shows throughout Los Angeles, the band recorded their first EP, which includes the songs "Stars," "Beetles," and "Elephants."
In December 2007, the band started recording their first EP, Exquisite Corpse, with producer Jacob Bercovici. Over two months, Kokal and her then-boyfriend, John Frusciante, recorded and worked on the album's production. The 2008 EP, which Warpaint published independently, went straight to the top of the Los Angeles Amoeba Records local artist chart. Manimal Vinyl reissued Exquisite Corpse worldwide in 2009 and was met with widespread appreciation. In Andrew Hull and Lionsgate's 2011 indie horror film Siren, the track "Elephants" played an important role.
The track "Lilys," included in the HBO series Made for Love, was released on April 30, 2021. Warpaint dropped their single "Champion" on January 26, 2022. It was released by Virgin Records on May 6, 2022, as the first single from the band's fourth studio album, Radiate Like This.
