Walk the Moon Information
Walk the Moon is a rock band usually stylized as WALK THE MOON. The group is currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was first founded in 2006 by lead singer Nicholas Petricca while a Kenyon College student. The current lineup consists of Sean Byron Waugaman – drums, percussion, backing vocals; Eli Brose Maiman – guitar, backing vocals, bass; and Nicholas William Petricca – lead vocals, keyboards, synthesizer, percussion. The band's name is taken from the popular song named "Walking on the Moon" by the Police.
Walk the Moon independently released its debut album in November 2010. The album entitled I want! I want! received airplay on multiple alternative radio stations for the track "Anna Sun." The group was named as a band you to know in 2012 by Alt Nation after the mega-success of the song. The group was signed to RCA Records in February 2011.
Some of the notable chartings hit singles by Walk the Moon include Shut Up and Dance and One Foot. The band members have cited David Bowie, Talking Heads, Tears for Fears, the Police, and Phil Collins as their major influences. On June 19, 2012, the self-titled major-label debut by the group was released by RCA Records. This album included a re-recorded version of the famous "Anna Sun."
Walk the Moon was seen on the Late Show with David Letterman. The band members also performed at Summerfest Music Festival and the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage.
