Wacken Metal Battle Information
Since 2004, The Metal Battle has been held all over the world. Since then, it has together many metal scenes worldwide at Wacken Open Air. Drone, Torture Squad, WBattle BeastORDS, and Hammercult were just a few of the bands the competition helped launch at the beginning of their careers. An international music competition called The Metal Battle aims to help up-and-coming, unsigned metal bands from the underground.
Because of this, the Metal Battle attracted participants from over 40 nations. To select one band to represent their home scene at the international final round at the Wacken Open Air, nations including Canada, Mexico, South Africa, the Middle East, Bulgaria, China, and Japan (to mention a few) joined this global network.
The WET Stage and the Headbanger's Stage of the W:O:A are the traditional locations for the final. The bands have the choice of putting on a show for the largest metal festival in the world's crowd and showcasing what metal is all about in their nation. The panel will ultimately choose a "top 5" band, and those bands will receive material and monetary awards.
Additionally, the W:O:A Metal Battle final will provide a venue for all competing bands to network with producers, managers, booking agencies, and labels. Thus, the Metal Battle offers all competing bands an opportunity to make contacts that may be helpful for their musical future.
