Vance Joy (December 1, 1987), whose real name is James Gabriel Keogh, is a former rules footballer and current Australian singer and songwriter who was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. His 2013 smash single "Riptide" catapulted him to fame. Atlantic Records offered Joy a five-album contract in 2013. God Loves You When You're Dancing was his first extended play (EP), and it was out in March 2013.
In 2013, his single "Riptide" topped Triple J's Hottest 100. Joy's debut album, Dream Your Life Away, was released in Australia on September 5, 2014. It was released in other parts of the world on September 9, 2014. In a joint effort with Benny Blanco and Marshmello, Joy dropped the track "You" on January 29, 2021.
Joy released the single "Missing Piece" on May 20, 2021. That night, Grey's Anatomy used the song. The song was nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Video at the 2021 ARIA Music Awards and went platinum in Australia. In Our Own Sweet Time, Vance's third studio album was announced on April 7, 2022, and released on June 10, 2022. The 2023 song "Everybody Needs Someone" was a collaboration between Joy and Noah Cyrus.
