USS - Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker Information
USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker) is an alternative rock musical duo. The current lineup of the group consists of Ashley Buchholz (guitarist and vocalist) and Jason “Human Kebab” Parsons (hypeman and turntablist). The duo’s sound is a mixture of bass and drum beats, 2-step rhythms, and grunge-like guitar riffs. The band hails from the Greater Toronto Area. The group members met each other in 2004 while discussing music and stocking the beer fridge when they used to work at a golf course.
Both Parsons and Buchholz began to perform live by July 2008. The duo released its debut independent EP entitled, Welding the C:/, pronounced as “Welding the C Drive.” The EP was released the same month, in July 2008. In March 2009, USS released its debut full-length album entitled, Questamation. The album was released through their independent label, Smashing World Records. The duo went on a supporting tour in November for their Canadian leg of 1UP! Tour.
On February 14, 2011, USS released a single entitled “N/A OK.” Their second EP entitled, Approved, was released globally on May 3, 2011. The EP was released all digitally. The physical copies were exclusively released for the band’s shows in Canada only. The single “N/A OK” was nominated at the 2012 Canadian Radio Music Awards in the Rock category.
USS released a single from their third EP, “This Is the Best,” on June 4, 2013. It was the first single from the duo’s EP, Advanced Basics. The duo released its second studio album, New World Alphabet, in January 2017.
