Tumbledown House is an American band that originated in Portland, Oregon, in 2009. The group has performed nearly 900 shows since its inception, throughout various states. The sound of the Tumbledown House has never been easy to describe as it is a mix of saloon jazz, parlor pop, and Modern speakeasy. The group is famous for using a fusion of vintage sounds and themes with modern instrumentation with natural energy performances.
The current lineup of Tumbledown House consists of clarinetist John Thatcher Boomer, Tommy O'Mahony bass, trumpeter Arlo Perlstein, Jimi Marks drums, Gillian Wolfe vocals, and guitarist Tyler Ryan Miller. The band is a rising festival favorite throughout Northern California and has released very few discographies, including "Sum and Substance." This album is defined as a slight turn from the usual carnival ride of their earlier work.
Sum and Substance showcase the growth and maturity that the band has experienced as songwriters and artists. Fables and Falsehoods is another album by Tumbledown House that features many New Orleans' Dirty Dozen Brass Band members.
Following their second album release, Tumbledown House resumed their extensive touring schedule and was met with more success. The group has performed at several notable events such as Reno's Artown, Edwardian Ball, The Midpoint Music Festival, Stern Grove's pop-up festival, Oakland's Eastlake Music Festival, and The Myrna Loy.
