Travis Knights Information
In 2000, Travis Knights began his career when he was cast as a principal dancer alongside Gregory Hines and Savion Glover in the film biography of Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson. Henry LeTang, a legend in his day, was responsible for the film's choreography. He was cast as the lead dancer in Warner Bros.' 'Happy Feet' computer game in 2006. As a Tap Dance consultant for Cirque du Soleil, Travis was heavily involved in the company in 2007 and 2008.
He appeared in the Apollo Theatre production of "Diary of a Tap Dancer" by Tandem Act Productions, as well as the touring production of "Wonderland: A Tap Tribute to Stevie Wonder" by Ayodele Casel and Sarah Savelli. Knights performed as a featured Tap Dancer at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The same year, he toured the United States and Canada with Tap Dogs, an Australian tap dance troupe with international recognition.?
Knights debuted with professional dance companies in Austin, Texas, in 2010 as a principal dancer with Tapestry Dance Company, directed by Acia Gray. Both in 2011 and 2013, he was recognized as the finest dance artist in Austin by the Critic's Table. In 2014, he set off on a self-produced globe tour called "The Tap Love Tour," where he filmed episodes of his online series "The Interviews," which profiled influential figures in tap dance. He unveiled new paintings at Thomas Marek's NOLA exhibition in Hamburg, Germany 2015.
