Tortuga Music Festival Information
Rock the Ocean's Tortuga Music Festival is the annual event at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Fort Lauderdale is often the site of the celebrations in early April. A.J. Niland and Chris Stacey established the yearly spring festival to bring more attention and funds to the cause of ocean conservation.
More than $1,200,000 has been generated for ocean conservation so far this year from the percentage of ticket proceeds that go to charity.
Numerous stages host live performances at the event, emphasizing roots music, rock, and country. Notable acts such as Brett Eldredge, David Nail, Eric Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Zac Brown Band have performed in the past. More Headliners in recent memory have included Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, and Shania Twain.
A section called Conservation Village is featured annually at the festival. In this space, visitors may engage with activities, exhibits, and displays designed to bring attention to marine conservation, research efforts, and challenges affecting the world's oceans.
An additional goal of the event is to collect funds to protect sea turtles, which lay their eggs along the Atlantic coast of South Florida every year. Guy Harvey, an artist and conversationalist specializing in marine life, has collaborated with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation at the Conservation Village to increase public understanding of the ocean. Over 30 different groups have received grants totaling over $1 million from the Rock the Ocean Foundation.
