Too Many Zooz Information
Too Many Zooz is an American brass house (self-defined genre) band that originated from New York City, New York, in 2014. The group consists of Matt "Doe" Muirhead (trumpet), Leo Pellegrino (baritone saxophone), David "King of Sludge" Parks (drums). This trio was founded when Pellegrino and Muirhead met at the Manhattan School of Music. Additionally, Pellegrino and Parks played together in a local busking band named Drumadics. The three of them teamed up and began playing together.
During the initial years of Too Many Zooz, the group members performed at various stations scattered across the New York City Subway. They categorized their music as Brass House, which is a mix of funk, jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and house music. The trio gained sudden popularity when one of their video clips of a subway performance went viral in March 2014.
F NOTE was the first EP by Too Many Zooz released on January 19, 2014. Some of the other notable discographies by the band are Fanimals (EP) (September 6, 2014), Brasshouse Volume 1: Survival of the Flyest (EP) (November 21, 2014), The Internet (EP) (May 1, 2015), Subway Gawdz (LP) (June 27, 2016), A Very Too Many Zooz Xmas (EP) (December 19, 2018), and ZombiEP (EP) (September 2019).
In January 2015, Too Many Zooz was booked on tour at theatres and small clubs all across the US. The trio performed on road trips and played backup for Beyoncé on November 2, 2016. The band was featured in Kaskade's July 2016 single entitled "Jorts FTW."
