Tokyo Police Club Information
Tokyo Police Club is a Canadian indie rock band. The current lineup of the group consists of Greg Alsop (drums and percussion), Josh Hook (guitar and vocals), Graham Wright (keyboards, guitar, and vocals), and Dave Monks (lead vocals, bass guitar, and guitar). The group was founded in Newmarket, Ontario. Their early success came up with their debut EP in 2007 entitled, A Lesson in Crime. It was originally released in 2006 through Paper Bag Records. The EP was followed by many other releases from the band over the period.
In 2006, Tokyo Police Club also appeared at Edgefest as well as the inaugural Osheaga Festival. On October 23, 2007, the band released another EP named Smith EP. The band was performing a July show in Omaha, Nebraska, signing a record deal with Saddle Creek Records. In 2007, Tokyo Police Club performed at many festivals such as the Reading and Leeds Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Bumbershoot, Lollapalooza, and Coachella.
Tokyo Police Club released its debut LP entitled Elephant Shell. The album was first released on the US iTunes Store on March 25, 2008. The album was released on the band’s newly signed record label in April in North America, in May in the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe through Memphis Industries.
Tokyo Police Club played at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2010. The same year, they also played at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. Other albums released by the band include Champ (2010), Forcefield (2014), Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness: Parts One & Two (2016), and TPC (2018).
