The SteelDrivers Information
The SteelDrivers are a Nashville, Tennessee, bluegrass band. Tammy Rogers on fiddle, Mike Fleming on bass, Matt Dame on guitar and vocals, Brent Truitt on mandolin, and Richard Bailey on banjo together comprise the group.
The SteelDrivers' self-titled debut, which featured new lead singer Chris Stapleton, was published in 2008 after the band played at many bluegrass festivals. This album reached position no. 57 on Billboard's Top Country Albums list in the US. A Grammy nomination for the category of Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals was submitted for the group in 2009 for their song "Blue Side of the Mountain."
In April 2010, Stapleton said he would quit the band to devote more time to his family. Gary Nichols, a previous performer on Mercury Records, took up lead vocals and guitar duties after his departure.
The new lineup's 2015 album, The Muscle Shoals Recordings, won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album. Kelvin Damrell joined the band in 2018 and made his singing debut on their 2020 album, Bad for You. Kelvin Damrell announced his retirement from the band in July 2021, and at the same time, the band introduced Matt Dame as their new lead vocalist.
