The Staves Information
Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor, sisters from Watford, Hertfordshire, England, formed the indie-folk trio The Staves. The Staves first met at an open-mic night organized by a local bar, The Horns, in Watford. The Staves changed their name from The Staveley-Taylors to The Staves after they began performing as The Staveley-Taylors.
The band had an appearance on Tom Jones' album Praise and Blame, which was released in July 2010. In the autumn of 2010, they accompanied Mt. Desolation on their UK tour. Jessica Staveley-Taylor was also a member of Mt. Desolation and sang on their self-titled album. The Staves participated in Fionn Regan's third studio album, 100 Acres of Sycamore, and released the Live at Cecil Sharp House EP and the Mexico EP in 2011.
In January 2012, The Staves toured the United States to promote The Civil Wars. Following these appearances, they performed at South by Southwest and went on tour with Bear's Den, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Ben Howard in March and April. The film "Austin to Boston," a documentary by Marcus Haney, was based on this voyage. The band toured with Bon Iver in the United States and Canada in May and June 2012.
Glyn and Ethan Johns produced the band's debut album, Dead & Born & Grown, released in November 2012. This is a BBC Two promotional program featuring a snippet from their "Facing West" performance on Later... with Jools Holland.
